Music Therapy is the use of music to achieve non-musical goals. It is facilitated by an Accredited Music Therapist in the context of a therapeutic relationship. In music therapy, clients actively participate in music-making by improvising, singing, moving, listening and playing with the support of the therapist. Techniques such as instructive songs, reciprocal drumming, musical anticipation, and musical turn-taking are utilized to promote growth in the client's social, emotional, cognitive, motor and communication abilities.
Music therapy can be beneficial for people of any age or ability level.
